THE STORY BEHIND
This year one of our supplier sent us many different samples of fresh crop Tanzania coffees, many of them were not interesting but one was really standing out on the table with an astonishing intensity.
This lot is brilliant and bright with intense note of candied lemon in the aroma. Flavour is just so intense that it's going to be one of our favourite coffee for 2016!
We are starting to collaborate directly with this washing station to produce an exclusive lot for us following our special protocol, we see a huge potential here.
The Tanzania coffee character belongs to the Central/East African family of washed (wet-processed) coffees - bright (acidic), and almost aggressively flavourful. Kenya may still produce superior coffee, but Tanzania has pushed ahead and shows many of the same positive qualities of Kenya.
The cup is uniquely fruited while asserting deep chocolate notes. The dry fragrance has date sugar sweetness, molasses hints, and muscat grape. Adding hot water, a hint of black currant and raisin dominate with raw, unprocessed Muscavado sugar in full bloom. The counterpoint is a sweet and syrupy blackberry flavour that lingers through the long finish.
