 THE STORY BEHIND

Established in 1872 by Cornelio Lemus, this Strictly High Grown plantation (SHG) is located 16 km southwest of the city of Santa Ana, at Las Cruces, west of the country. It now belongs to Margarita Diaz Lopez, great grand-daughter of the founder. The farm is home to the cutting edge Beneficio De Manzano established by CuatroM Single Origin Coffees in 2005.

This plantation, which has a rich and fertile volcanic soil, extends over 70 acres and also hosted the "Beneficio" used for coffee processing. The temperature is 17-33°C from April to October and 7-22°C from November to March.
Regarding varieties, the plantation was originally cultivated with 100% typica. Due to its low productivity, it has been replanted with bourbon. Since 2004 new varieties were replanted. A 90% of the area is cultivated with bourbon, and other parts with Pacamara, Yellow bourbon, Typica and Kenya.

Finca El Manzano helped Rubens Gardelli to win 2015 Italy Brewers Cup, Laila Ghambari to win United States of America Barista championship in 2014 and Charlotte Malaval (France) to achieve an astonishing 6th place at World Barista championship in 2015
